Welcome to the first of my live shows on Game People. I'm going to take you on a little trip down memory lane. I'm starting with Flower, a couple of songs into the project, because this particular song is helpful to talk about the project as a whole.
It was a song that epitomised what I wanted to try and achieve, to bring art and videogames together. This, perhaps more than any other song I wrote, got to the core of what excited me about videogames - and for that I am grateful. It's the one I loved the most.
I appreciated how it really took its time and is almost a sensual experience. I found plenty of inspiration in the game itself. Although I always think about how my music relates to the game I'm reviewing with Flower, the ethereal orchestral soundtrack was a beautiful starting point.
Flower created a strong emotional response in me. It was somehow in tune with my own emotional landscape. This whole thing about taking your time, and wondering if you can bear the beauty of life. It's almost as if you can't quite let things in sometimes when you are in a really beautiful place or encounter. As if you anticipate the potential pain of loss up ahead.
It's not something we do very often in games. So for me, Flower really goes against the grain and made it easy to create this song as a genuine response.

It's seamless movement, breathtaking, filmic, it's your own interpretation So take your time, can you bear the weight of this poem? Won't you take your time, can you stay long enough to breathe it? It pushes the boundaries, communicates in mysteries, it's your own experience So take your time, can you bear the weight of this poem? With so many different perspectives it can be hard to know where to start - a little like walking into a crowded pub. Sorry about that.
But so far we've not found a way to streamline our review output - there's basically too much of it. So, rather than dilute things for newcomers we have decided to live with the hubbub while helping new readers find the columnists they will enjoy.
