Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition on 360 PS3

Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition Screen Shots

Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition is a Shooting game available on the 360 PS3. It can be played in Thirdperson Singleplayer Cooperative modes.

Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition is a Shooting game. Shooting games present a world in which the character must shoot their way out of dangerous situations. They provide the player with an array of weapons tailored to specific tasks. This unavoidably involves a combination of fisticuffs and gun based fighting that dictates the violent nature of these experiences. Beneath this harsh exterior though is often an intricate tactile game - and this is usually what drives the player.

Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition can be played in a Thirdperson mode. Third Person games view the world from over the right shoulder of the character being controlled. This enables you to see the character you are controlling as well as their surrounds. Although not as immersive as first person, third person games enable more complex moves and interactions with the environment.

Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition can be played in a Singleplayer mode. Single Player Campaign games focus on one player's experience. Rather than collaborate with other players either locally or online, players progress alone. The campaign style of gameplay offers a connected series of challenges to play through. These chapters work together to tell a story through which players progress. Single player games are able to focus on one experience of a scenario, so that it is usually a richer, more visceral game.

Story Gamer review Tue, 06 Apr 2010

Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition for 360 has surprisingly deep ties to the rest of the series, which build through the main campaign and are expanded upon in the two bonus scenarios Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape.

If there were two things I wasn't expecting from Resident Evil 5's story, it was coherence and closure. As I previously discussed when reviewing other games in the series, the ongoing plot of the Resident Evil games is a sprawling, nonsensical thing which flails off into all manner of storytelling cul-de-sacs.

Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition shows how well Capcom understand the history of the series. Here, they re-cut the zombie 'em up with new missions that change both pacing and play style. This special edition includes Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape DLC as well as Versus, The Mercenaries Reunion and Costume Packs 1 and 2.

The main event here are the two mission packs, available as downloadable content or as part of a Gold Edition on 360 and PS3. The two short stages see you filling in plot points that were skipped over in the original game. These two very different missions generated equally unnerving but very different personal responses.
