We don't score games like other sites. But we do want to suggest which games we think best suite different age groups:

These games work with the basics of play and should engage the super young players in our families. Children from 2 to 4 are ideally placed to get the most from these games.

2008 Spring: Family Ski Wii

2008 Summer: Quickspot DS

2008 Autumn: Pac 'n Roll DS

2008 Winter: Dora the Explorer: Dora Saves the Snow Princess Wii

These games provide experiences that connect with a basic joy of discovery and play. Although still simplistic they engage with a wide range of basic principles that our 5 to 10 year olds will best appreciate.

2008 Spring: Boom Blox Wii

2008 Summer: Soul Bubbles DS

2008 Autumn: Mario and Sonic at the Olympics Wii

2008 Winter: Guinness World Records Wii

These games provide thrilling experiences that major on brash, loud (sometimes busty) protagonists and should connect with the 11 to 16 year old students in our families.

2008 Spring: Super Smash Brothers Brawl Wii

2008 Summer: Rockband 360

2008 Autumn: Castle Crashers 360

2008 Winter: Motor Storm: Pacific Rift PS3

These games provide more of a challenge in both dexterity and problem solving. Hard working hard core gamers 17 and older will rise to these heady experiences.

2008 Spring: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune PS3

2008 Summer: Halo 3 360

2008 Autumn: Portal 360

2008 Winter: Mirror's Edge PS3

These games connect with the gamer on a more mature level. Story driven and often open ended, the experiences here provide space to play with complex issues and engage in moral dilemmas. Either that or to esacpe the grind of the work/home balance.

2008 Spring: Elite Beat Agents DS

2008 Summer: Sing Star PS3

2008 Autumn: Assassin's Creed 360

2008 Winter: Far Cry 2 360

These games provide a slightly slower, although no less challenging experience. Time and consideration are of the essence as our most senior gamers enjoy interacting with other players and perfecting their approach.

2008 Spring: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue PS3

2008 Summer: Picross DS

2008 Autumn: Endless Ocean / Forever Blue Wii

2008 Winter: Animal Crossing: Let's go to the City Wii
