Animal Kororo on DS

Animal Kororo Screen Shots

Animal Kororo is a Minigames game available on the DS. It can be played in Realtime modes.

Animal Kororo is a Minigames game. Mini games come in a variety of shapes and sizes. What unites the genre is the speed with which players can pickup the games and the relativley short time requried to complete a level or two.

Animal Kororo can be played in a Realtime mode. Real Time games are played without opportunity to stop and consider the next move. This creates an experience that is more reaction than strategy based. Sporting, fighting and rhythm action games obviously rely on this style of delivery to work. Other genres, such as strategy or adventure games, can choose whether to be played in turns or in real time. Some games such as Valkyria Chronicles PS3 and PSP provide a turn based strategy experience with real time elements - something that is becoming a popular compromise.

Microcosm Gamer review Wed, 08 Dec 2010

Animal Kororo DS is an extremely cute puzzle world populated by round, smiling creatures. Beneath this saccharine exterior lies a deceptively challenging microcosm built on strict time limits and careful strategy.

My neighbour's new kitten was a sweet little thing. It was so tiny and soft, and everyone would "ooh" and "aaah" as it curled up and went to sleep in their lap. It's hard not to feel affection for such a tiny creature.

Animal Kororo DS is a bizarre puzzle game. Flicking little cretures around the screen became surprisingly addictive though. I couldn't resist the fun of having so much power over such cute little creatures.

At first glance, this was to me just another puzzle game. At least, that's what the box led me to believe with its cutesy designs that made me grin from ear to ear. In fact, there is only one kind of 'puzzle' throughout, and whilst it's the main focus of play it's not the be all and end all.

Family Gamer review Thu, 08 Apr 2010

Animal Kororo DS hides brutal challenges behind a wonderfully cheery Japanese facade. Though we enjoyed playing the game and appreciated its cute style, the high difficultly level quickly made the experience feel a little frustrating and unfair - particularly for the littler family members.

The DS is blessed with a vast abundance of puzzle games so new game always has to work twice as hard to make an impact in the market. Animal Kororo immediately got my attention thanks to its strong anime art-style and cute characters. It worked for my kids too and my eldest son was eager to try out this fresh-looking puzzle game and see how it played.
