DJ Hero on PS3

DJ Hero Screen Shots

DJ Hero is a Rhythmaction game available on the PS3.

DJ Hero is a Rhythmaction game. Rhythm action games combine the enjoyment that comes from creating music with the challenge of video game scoring. The player is usually tasked with dancing on a mat, tapping a touch screen, pressing a button, singing into a mic or strumming a fake guitar controller in time with the music.

Soundtrack Gamer review Sun, 30 May 2010

DJ Hero hooks right into the world of joyously inappropriate mash-ups. Although it is the fader rather than the turntable that is the star of the show, the peripheral works well as a whole. DJ Hero popularises what the mix mag tribe has known for some time - there's some rich pickings amongst today's similarly paced pop anthems.

There was a time when DJs were the new guitar heroes, creating a party atmosphere wherever they went. As the massive club culture of the 90s collapsed under its own weight, and names like Cream, Ministry of Sound and Gatecrasher became vague recollections, the hysteria around the DJ seemed to calm down.

Frugal Gamer review Fri, 20 Nov 2009

DJ Hero on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 is a complete refresh of the rhythm action genre. The everyday feel of the now common guitar and band based games like Guitar Hero, Band Hero and Rock Band is injected with life and engrgy. DJ hero provides the player with a Record Desk peripheral to scratch, slide, rewind, tap and replay in time with some excellent and intruiging mixes.

DJ Hero on 360 and PS3 takes an idea that has been overused, and breaths new life into it. Living rooms are groaning at the thought of more fake plastic instruments, but give DJ Hero half a chance and it starts the rhythm action magic all over again.

DJ Hero on 360 and PS3 takes an idea that has been beaten to death, and surprisingly squeezes out some more fun. Living rooms are groaning at the thought of more fake plastic instruments, but give DJ Hero half a chance and it starts the rhythm action magic all over again.

That game was Guitar Hero and it became a huge success, but a success that sent a clear message to the game makers from the game playing masses - we'll buy more expensive games if they are a lot of fun.
