LittleBigPlanet 2 Machinima is a Platforming game available on the PS3. It can be played in Thirdperson Singleplayer Cooperative Competitive Augmented modes.
LittleBigPlanet 2 Machinima is a Platforming game. Platform games task you with getting from point A to point B. The world you journey through is usually based on different levels, and populated with enemies, switches and lifts to be negotiated. As you work through each level you pick up various collectables that accrue score, special abilities and access to hidden areas.
LittleBigPlanet 2 Machinima can be played in a Thirdperson mode. Third Person games view the world from over the right shoulder of the character being controlled. This enables you to see the character you are controlling as well as their surrounds. Although not as immersive as first person, third person games enable more complex moves and interactions with the environment.
LittleBigPlanet 2 Machinima can be played in a Singleplayer mode. Single Player Campaign games focus on one player's experience. Rather than collaborate with other players either locally or online, players progress alone. The campaign style of gameplay offers a connected series of challenges to play through. These chapters work together to tell a story through which players progress. Single player games are able to focus on one experience of a scenario, so that it is usually a richer, more visceral game.
LittleBigPlanet 2 Machinima can be played in a Cooperative mode. Cooperative Multiplayer games provide an experience that is played symaltaneously by multiple players. Unlike the simple arena competitive multiplayer style games where players try to kill the most enemies, true co-operative games are designed to take a group of players through a campaign experience together. This will involve sections where players have to work together to proceed - either from the sheer difficulty as in Halo 3 on 360 or by the design of levels such as LittleBigPlanet on PS3.
LittleBigPlanet 2 Machinima can be played in a Competitive mode. Competitive Multiplayer games provide experiences where players compete against each other and the computer. Obviously lending itself to sports and team games, these competitive engagements have also dominated the shooting and fighting genres because of the direct combat and expertise involved in each. Although these games were originally played in a split screen style, more recently they are played online via services such as PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and the Nintendo Wireless Connection.
LittleBigPlanet 2 Machinima can be played in a Augmented mode. Augmented Reality games overlay the play space on a real time view of the world. A camera usually feeds in the view and the player is tasked with playing through the environment.
Little Big Planet 2, not happy with the already colossal 3.5 million user generated levels, continues its quest for Sackboy world domination with a Facebook app and competition to boot.
The create a sackboy Facebook app is a bit like the Mii creator on the Wii and 3DS and lets you pick and mix different expressions, outfits and accessories until you have your perfect Sackboy creation.

LittleBigPlanet 2 promises to be all things to all men. Or women. Or Sack people. I found that in looking for it to realise my creativity I nearly missed the multiplayer fun it had to offer.
Reviewing LittleBigPlanet 2 is almost like reviewing two different games. On the one hand I discovered a lively, sociable and thoroughly entertaining multiplayer platform game. On the other I was provided with a toybox full of bits and bobs which promised to be quite capable of reproducing all of the in-game content I had seen as well as providing me with the means to create my own levels. It seemed I would be limited only by my own imagination.
Little Big Planet 2 puts flesh on the hysterics of the original. Now, as well as laughing, there is more diversity to the challenge. It's a better game for it.
They took some convincing at first, but I managed to get my friends well and truly hooked on the first LittleBigPlanet. Now, even they would agree it was a real watershed for gaming back in 2008. Being on PS3 didn't help it, back then not many of my friends could afford Sony's expensive bit of kit. I had my Dad's to play on so they would all come round to my house.
Little Big Planet was a monumental achievement. Technically, artistically, socially unlike anything that had gone before. But with great power comes great complexity and not as many people spent the time they should with the game. Little Big Planet 2 promises to put this right with its simpler design tools and more varied style of play.
I spent some time with Media Molecule to see just what they had in store for us with Little Big Planet 2. There was a lot of ground to cover and a lot to take in, in a short space of time. But the main story here was their departure from being a pure platforming game.
Little Big Planet 2 is two things. Most obviously it's a platform game with endearing visuals and varied game play. Harder to grasp though, it's also a tool to create your own video games. The first game struggled to communicate all this, but still won through with an avid online community creating millions of their own levels. Little Big Planet 2 both builds on this success and makes it simple enough for the masses to enjoy.
