Today Clare is:

I think it's probably true that most of us have grown up with computer games - I have a dark and distant memory of some sort of black box with two controllers that allowed us to play an extremely primitive and pixelated game of tennis - from there I moved onto Battle Chess on the PC, Dizzy Egg on the Commodore 64 and Sonic on the Sega MegaDrive. I don't think I could ever be classed as a 'serious gamer'; I can't quite get my fingers around the controls on a joypad!

I am building a catalogue of my reviews over the years. If you look closely you can see my progression into the realm of the Eclectic Gamer as my children start showing up on the scene. Although these days I play a lot more video games, I still miss visiting our local bingo hall with my Gran to play bingo at landmarkbingo. Read more about me.

It's been a quiet week in Oakwood, mainly because I've had a bad cold so have been heading to bed early every day rather than staying up on WiFi! This is where I would say the DS game wins over the big console - if it had been AC:WW I would still have played in bed! My husband says that he prefers AC:CF for this reason though, as I have to leave it downstairs!

It's been an extremely exciting week in the town of Oakwood and there is loads to report!

Jewel Quest Mysteries: Curse of the Emerald Tear DS is as ecelectic as it gets. Search for all manner of unusual objects as the game test your powers of observation.

As a huge fan of the Animal Crossing games I could hardly contain my excitement when I got the 'Let's go to the City' game, bundled with Wii Speak. I couldn't wait to get writing about how the new game works out. I'll be blogging my way through the experience right here on this page - so you can enjoy it too.

Dancing on Ice Wii took me from a love of Figure Skating to appreciate Ice Dancing. Something about it hooked my competitive nature and no matter how imaginary the challenge, this was a game I had to win.

Animal Kororo DS is a bizarre puzzle game. Flicking little cretures around the screen became surprisingly addictive though. I couldn't resist the fun of having so much power over such cute little creatures.

Squeeballs Party is a cuter more sadistic, and more entertaining version of Wii-Sports. Sure, Wii-Sports may have nuanced motion controls, but only Squeeballs lets you launch creepy critters or make hot dogs out of your little friends. Of course, not all people will see the above as positives. It helps that this game perfectly fits my eclectic sense of humour.

Endless Ocean 2 is extremely laid back, and soon sucked me into exploring underwater and appreciating the diversity of marine life. A surprising variety of things to do kept it fresh and made it ideal for switching off at the end of the day.

Sleep is Death does away with artificial intelligence and level design by letting one of the players control this as you go. Difficult to explain but endlessly flexible to play, Sleep is Death asks a lot of you , but then creates something genuinely unique.
