I think it's probably true that most of us have grown up with computer games - I have a dark and distant memory of some sort of black box with two controllers that allowed us to play an extremely primitive and pixelated game of tennis.

From there I moved onto Battle Chess and online bingo on the PC, Dizzy Egg on the Commodore 64 and Sonic on the Sega MegaDrive. I don't think I could ever be classed as a 'serious gamer'; I can't quite get my fingers around the controls on a joypad!

I am building a catalogue of my reviews over the years. If you look closely you can see my progression into the realm of the Eclectic Gamer as my children start showing up on the scene. Read more about me.

Smeet blends PlayStation Home and online dating in a social space with big name brands. But more than the big names, it's the grown-up users that made the difference for me... read now

If you follow my blog you'll know I'm a lady who's a little partial to a bit of Bingo. I seem to take flack on both sides for this - some friends think it's for old dears whilst others are worried I'm addicted... read now

The end of August has come around all too quickly. We had a week away from home but apart from that I've been spending some time in Oakwood most days. However, I've resorted to a much more 'laissez faire' attitude to the game - not time travelling at all, not worrying about the Stalk Market too much, unless I think I'll have time in that particular week. .. read now

It's been a busy few months in our household. I wasn't really intending to stop playing City Folk but after a week's holiday away from home, somehow life got the better of me and I couldn't bring myself to play catchup, setting the clock back to play each day since I last played - so I just didn't play at all... read now

Updates from Oakwood are getting fewer and further between. I'm still checking in to town every day but just doing the essential jobs in order to keep the game ticking over. There are days when I play a little bit more, for example a Wednesday when Crazy Redd's stock changes, or a Sunday when I buy turnips, but usually I'm just watering flowers and checking turnip prices, as well as throwing an axe into the fountain!.. read now

It's been a few weeks since the last update from Oakwood but until Easter there hadn't been much more to report. I've been slowly collecting items that were missing from my catalogue, fishing and bug catching when new fish and insects became available, and doing lots of gardening... read now

Weeks are beginning to run into one another in Oakwood these days. Just more turnip price watching, axe throwing, and flower watering! Thankfully I'm getting better at remembering to take in-game photos so that at least reminds me about important events. .. read now

With so many different perspectives it can be hard to know where to start - a little like walking into a crowded pub. Sorry about that.

But so far we've not found a way to streamline our review output - there's basically too much of it. So, rather than dilute things for newcomers we have decided to live with the hubbub while helping new readers find the columnists they will enjoy.

What sort of gamer are you?

Our columnists each focus on a particular perspective and fall into one of the following types of gamers:
