There are as many way to collect games as there are to play them. I want to bring together old, new, classic, rare, sealed game collectors together in one place, and make sense of it for us everyday people.
Whether you have your own game collection already, or are considering joining this exciting, and potentially profitable space, I'll be uncovering the highs and lows of collecting. Read more about me.
The art of collecting is a personal experience. It's one that can send you hunting through the deepest depths of the Internet's vaults, seeking that one special product. As a huge figure collector, often my 'special product' may not mean anything to anybody else.
I'm often ask about which games are the best to collect. This depends why are you are collecting. For some it's about archiving their personal favourites. Others collect sealed games becasue they want to preserve the best games in unsoiled condition for generations to come. Other do it becuase of how much these sealed games are worth.
Although films like Toy Story 2 paint game and toy collecting as a reclusive persuit I havent really had any negative comments aimed at my sealed game collecting. Particularly when people see my collection - they are more in awe of how I have so many.
It can be a little daunting getting started in any community, but the world of sealed games is perhaps harder to impregnate than most. A combination of the intensity of the collectors and the competition for limited sealed games can put new comers off. But, as I found, if you persevere there are plenty of people willing to help get you started.
Sealed Game Collectors may seem unusual to those that just buy games to play, but we are preserving and valuing the art and artefacts of gaming for future generations.
